A scribble

In a GQ interview, Marco Rubio reveals his three favorite rap songs are "Straight Outta Compton" by N.W.A, "Killuminati" by Tupac, and Eminem's "Lose Yourself."

I need to write about this.

Back channel chatter

  1. Rage Against the Machine syndrome

  2. Yes, you do need to.

  3. Politics aside, I think this is kind of cool. How far we've come from when NWA got a stop what you're doing right now, angry negroes letter from the FBI, 2Pac's music had "no place in American society" according to Dan Quayle, and Eminem became the sole human on the planet to unite GLAAD and Focus on the Family in protest.

That being said, "Lose Yourself," while a great move anthem isn't Shady's best or a representation of what he's all about. And "Killuminati" is flat out weak.

"Straight Out of Compton" is a great selection from Rubio on the same day he cozied up to creationism. To the remix:

Straight out of Cuba, crazy motherfucker named Roo-bee-oh, Who ain't sure how old the Earth be yo When I'm called off, I take my sawed off And blow up Medicare 'til bodies are hauled off.
